Had my X type 3.0 litre awd just over a year now, and I love it. Always been a Jag fan.
took it for MOT end of January and oh my what a shock, failed on a few things,
needed new brake discs and pads on rear, new drop links on front suspension,
but the big shocker was it need welding on front sills on both sides, ok I thought
it's of a certain age and should not be to bad. as photos attached show it was
a total shock to see how bad they had become. so I urge you to get your cars checked.
£400 to get a welder to put right, but I still love my Jag, that 3.0 Litre Purrr and AWD
is pure heaven.
the cause of the problem is water gets trapped behind the plastic trim, and cannot escape
fully, so just sits there

Jaguar x type 2003 3.0 V6 auto
121,000 mile had since feb 2015
just gone for MOT and sadly failed, new discs and pads on rear, drop links on front suspension.
but main worry is need to have new sills on both sides as badly corroded, plastic cover inside doors apparently
known for retaining water and corroding fast, past MOT last year year, but the rainy year and damp conditions
have just helped to make things worse
this is my first Jaguar, been a big fan for years. final bill likely to be about £800+
Er'indoors not best pleased, but hey i love my Jaguar

had same problem with my 3.o litre X type, £400 lighter now as a result
just posted some photos on another part of forum, they were pretty bad.
I too wondered how they could have got so bad in a year since it's last MOT
when dealer had it tested.
I urge everyone to get them checked as comes as a nasty shock when a
total of £750 lighter for MOT
