I have noticed that the heater blower is very noisy, particularly when the auto button is pressed and it's cooling the interior.
Are they just generally noisy, or is it something I should look at?
I was looking for a Haynes manual that might be useful for doing bits and pieces but there isn't one available for this model, which surprised me.

I have put in the Wynns treatment today, so hopefully that is going to cure the problem.

There is a additive you can use that is made to free off sticky valve lifters Ive never used one
so can't comment .----But i have heard of --Wynns Hydraulic Valve Lifter Treatment --Get it from
Halfords I would think it would be cheaper than letting it get too bad and then have to replace parts.????

Thanks Frank, I will put some in and report back, hopefully it will sort it out

The Oil in the car is 10w 40 semi synthetic, which from what I have read is correct.

I have been enjoying my new car, 1st Jaguar, and loving it, I have noticed a noisy tappet noise on start up, but this clears as soon as I blip the throttle.
Any suggestions or remedy for this?
The car is a 1998 4.0ltr

Hi, I have finally taken the plunge and bought myself a Jag, it's only a cheap taster to see how I like it, the car in question is a 1998 4.0 lwb sovereign.
It's only covered 107,000 and has a good history with it, obviously there are a few jobs to do, hole in bottom of wing, head lining, laquer on bonnet needs sorting, and I am sure there will be other things.
I've just done 250 miles this weekend and it drove faultlessly, so far so good.
I am sure I will be asking plenty of questions, so bear with me, it's my first Jag!

Unfortunately the Wynns treatment hasn't had any effect, so may have to run it in the garage for an opinion on getting it sorted.
