Can anybody tell me where to find the diagnostic plug location in my XF? I'm thinking of buying myself one of the plug-in diagnostic readers to allow me to check any warning lights that might crop up or cancel down any unnecessary warnings. To that end - has anybody had any experience of these DIY kits, and are they worth the money?

    Cheers,

    Mac

Its about where your right knee would be whilst in driver seat

Just picked up brand new XF. Very happy but.....  tried to watch a film while waiting for a train at eurotunnel but frustrated to find the power save shutdown cannot be avoided.   Unless anyone knows different.

No way of stopping it turning off the same as the radio, its to protect the battery from draining, only way is to keep engine running

    Hi everyone.

I'm considering buying one of these cars and would appreciate if someone could provide few words of wisdom:)

2009  2,7 diesel xf with 155,000 kilometers on.
2010 3,0 diesel xf wih 170,000 kilometers on.

Are they worth any consideration at all? both cost similar - 11k. euros.

which car would have a better engine and transmission and why? Planning on doing around 12-15k kilometers of driving per yer 50/50 urban/motorway

What problems could i expect at this mileage? on few places i have red that electronics tend to be a weaker side on these cars, as well as the there were some problems with trasmission stuck on P mode. Is it their weak side or it should have already been taken car by the dealers on these cars.

Also what should i look at when i go to inspect these cars?

Previously i owned mercedes c class 2009. was the first year when these models came out and before buying i did read a lot about these cars. Found a lot of complaints that they were with a lot of faults and etc. but when i bought it 3 years ago and made more than 50k kilometers with it, didnt had any isues with it ( only a broken handle). wonder if the same might be with these jags. a lot of bad reviews but in reality they are much sturdier.

Will be waiting for your help guys and gals:)

I have a 2010 3.0D V6 have had it for 2 years 55000 miles on it and no problems. I would go for the bigger engine has the fuel ecomony can be better than the 2.2. You must remember people only post when they have problems they never post and say another day trouble free. XF's do suffer with electrical gremlins but are normally fixed by just turning off and back on. Just make sure you have service history and cambelt/chains if high mileage.

  4. Just passed MOT last week at the dealers and nothing mentioned. VOSA say if they dont have self leveling and washers testers should err on the side of caution and pass the car. Still a very grey area though, the next one will be about LED's I'm sure

So, I have just had it confirmed that my next company car will be a Jaguar. Quite the step up from my Mondeo (hopefully)

All I know is that it will be an XF Portfolio Auto in Ammonite Grey with Black Leather interior and is coming mid March.

As often when getting a Company Lease, you don't get to add any options as the car is already built.

I am an avid tech-head and like my toys! and to be fair to the Mondeo, it does have a lot going for it, in terms of tech but is starting to show it's age now.

So what can I expect to receive in mine, assuming that is just a stock Portfolio?

E.G. does it have Adaptive Cruise Control as standard?

Just look on the Jaguar website

Well yesterday was the first time I drove the car since purchasing it at Christmas.

Travelled four hours to South Wales as youngest daughter was having her first child.

Got in the car today and noticed the carpet  on the passenger side appeared to be wet. Lifted the car mat and the carpet was absolutely soaking wet. Felt the carpet up towards the engine and it was bone dry, but the side and front part of the footwell was drenched.

Never owned a car that has done this before so wondering if this is a common problem and can someone suggest a cure? And please no suggestions to buy a pair of flippers and trunks.

Could be your sills have rotted

I've read a few posts on this subject. Long story cut short, took delivery on September 17th, received Restricted Performance message 2 weeks later, under warranty, dropped it in to my mates garage to run diagnostics. Diagnosed & fixed a seized valve. Was either Induction Turbo Boost Valve or Boost Pressure Actuator Shut Off Valve. I can find prices for Actuator valve around £90. Can't find a price for the other valve anywhere?

Has the valve been identified correctly?

Can the valve be replaced or is it part of another unit?

Can anyone assist with identifying what it's commonly known as, so I can price a replacement please?

    As always, any assistance appreciated.

2011 XF Luxury Auto 3.0D Claret Red Metallic

Surely you some form of Warranty on the car, take it back to the dealer to put right

  9. Hi Chris

I would wait until you get the water bottle has you wii fail the MOT and need to pay for a re-test. You are allowed to take a car with no MOT to a test station provided you have and appointment. Well thats always been the way in the past, perhaps another member may have more current info.
