Thanks for the advice. I usually use Shell Nitro, too. I was wondering if a simple blockage was the fault, as, when I swapped the pumps over I did notice some detritus in the bottom of both. A clean through is the next move, I guess!!

I have a problem with my '54 plate, 2.7D S Type. It seems to be fuel starvation. The pump is dated 2010, so has already been replaced (maybe a recurrent problem). There is power to the pump, but it is not priming or supplying fuel through to the filter, which is dryer than it should be. I have tried a replacement pump, which I must assume is o.k., but the problem is the same. Any help on this would be appreciated. N.B. I have a nearly -new battery, which I charged up to the gunwales, so it's not that!!

That's really helpful, I'll have the battery checked as I say, I have no idea of it's age, probably same as the car, i.e. 11 years, or maybe it is due another change. I have the service record, but that doesn't give details, only that independents started to look after it 5 years ago. Don't know if that's good or bad. 

I only go long distance once every 2 months or so and that usually entails hitting heavy traffic (funnily enough often around the M6, I was caught up after the lorry fire there last week), so it is not normally a problem.,

Hello Andy. Thanks, I have no idea about the battery, but I have checked the coolant. Do you know if the PC board which controls the Climate Control is also responsible for the p brake/dsc/abs balance? I've had issues with that, too. The problem only arises in heavy traffic and if I apply the p brake.

I have recently acquired a 2004 2.7 S Type (I'm entirely new to Jaguars). If I am stuck in traffic for any length of time and put the car in either neutral or park and apply the park brake repeatedly, the car gradually overheats and the park brake and DSC warnings light up. I have to pull over, switch off and wait 10 before I can move off again. the car is then fine, unless I repeat the stop, start cycle. Any ideas??? I know the DSC and ABS are interconnected, but is this a common problem.
