  1. Hi,

I've recently bought a Jaguar S Type which is eight years old but only has 39,000 (confirmed) on the clock and the car is in mint condition inside and out. Can anyone tell me how regular the servicing has to be and if the car needs to go to a Jaguar dealer for service due to the various electronics on board or can I take it to a recommended garage where the costs of labour will be cheaper and the car will have just as good a service as Jaguar dealers supply.

Also how often is servicing required and lastly, is the model prone to any particular types of problems.

    Thanks,

    Alister

  2. hi and welcome to the Jaguar Owners Club

You could sand these down, undercoat and spray these yourself. But you may find it will not looks as good as if you had them powder coated.. this costs about 45 a wheel.

    Hi again,

If I decided to do it myself - would I sand down with emery paper ? and if so is there a rust resistant paint that I would use as a first coat ? - finally would Jaguar have the metallic colour used as naturally I would want the best match to show a great result. I should say I'm very good at DIY but have not tackled anything like this before and want to ensure that it's done right.

    Thanks again for your help.

  3. Hi,

I have just bought an 'S' type from my father-in-law and the car is in mint condition. However, there are parts of the metallic wheels where there is a little 'pitting' and rust which is 'bubbling' - it's not a major problem as when I'm standing away from the car 6 - 7 feet or so it can't be seen. Nonetheless I wish to do something about it and I would prefer to do it myself as I'm very much a DIY person. Can anyone help - would appreciate it!
