  1. the drivers door doesn't unlock the car from the inside sometimes... pressing the central locking button or the key fob works though, apparently this is just a cable issue inside the door, I'm thinking a easy fix.... or a long, swearing job trying too get the panels off the door haha

  2. So good news, i had this fixed, sadly i could not do it myself as i am now away working and also do not have a hydraulic lift to get the car to a suitable height... I was charged around 500 quid in total by the jag specialist to have a new pan fitted and all that transmission fluid that is required, its like driving a cloud again and no leak to mess up the drive  great service from the garage too, they only had it for a few days and even sent me video updates, picked it up and dropped it off, they pointed out  couple of other issues i have but didn't try to force me to have them done which is a refreshing change, i will fix them when i get back

  3. Hi chaps,

So, I moved my car a couple of days ago to find she has a little leak of Oil under her, there is no sign this is coming from the engine and the levels are fine, also i have checked a few other things too, When i drive her she sometimes jerks a little when changing gear.... dun dun duuuuu so i believe this little Oil leak may be the auto gearbox Oil (which if i understand correctly is sealed but has a top up valve somewhere?)

please could someone give me some advice on how to top it up or at least recommend a particular fluid to use, in the meantime i will get out the 'driveway degreaser'

    thank you in advance

    Hey Tim,

I had a 71 GT6 MKII back in the late 80's, I remember it being a fantastic looking thing, but handling and comfort left a bit to be desired. Poor mans E-Type apparently ;)

    Cheers, Russ

    Hi Russ,

Haha yeah i definitely can't afford an e-type sadly, handling isn't too bad on the mkIII but when i get into my s-type i feel like I'm in my lounge haha and i have to be careful not to turn the string wheel to much haha

  5. i bought my first Jag which is a S-Type just 3 months ago at the ripe age of 31, haha.

I hear 'so you're driving and old mans car now' especially from my older brothers who i just told to sit in it and give it a drive.... they soon shut up! i get it all the time and i just laugh them off with my walnut dash and full leather trim and how the chair goes back and the string well moves out of the way so i can get in and out easier! hahaha my eldest brother has an XF and we both think my S drives better.

    Well,

The answer to the question is most definitely NO. The disk sits in the drive and the display says "Reading DVD" Left it there for 10 minutes and it got no further.

Anybody want a 2105 satnav map disk for XF and XE models?

a damn shame but i will take the dvd off your hands, my brother has an xf that needs updating, how much do you want for it?

Fold in mirrors now working as they should, the fault was not due to freezing but slightly seized as predicted, thanks to shove in the right direction thanks Paul! So next question, as long as you have the time and of course you don't mind sharing with me is, how easy a task and how do I get the folding mirrors to work when locking and unlocking the car? Thanks again in advance

The is a question i too would like the answer to

  8. oh nice, the instructions i followed told me to cut all but 2 of the clips then put the putty into them when the grill is in, you don't need to put it on the mesh (as the mesh is stainless i doubt it would work anyway.

I would suggest putting the putty in the 2 you broke just for added security, you don't want 2 of them opening and the grill sliding out

oh and don't forget to colour in the bits you cut off (the white bits you get when you cut the cascading grill) a sharpie will do the job or some black paint, otherwise you will see the white bits overtime you looks at it haha

  9. so the first one is how it looks from the back before i have added the epoxy, i have used a number of cable ties as clamps

the in pic 2 you can see i have picked the putty and stuffed it into the wholes where i cut the clips, leaving it to dry for a couple of hours to make sure it sets

    hope this helps :)

    p.s use gloves

  10. my passenger side mirror only half unfolds sometimes, which is irritating, but i will take it apart and lube it up, thanks for the idea, i live off some narrow lanes so the mirror fold is very useful, however the MPG does suffer with all the stopping for traffic and farmers haha

My 2000 S-type has the Global Open but doesn't seem to have a Global Close.  Is this only on the post 2002 models?

Also I can't see any way of removing the cup-holders to access a cubby box, I guess this is also only on later models?

The keyhole for the boot  lid is just to the right of centre on mine, directly below the "U" in Jaguar but I always use either the button on the dash or the one on the remote anyway.

Hi Robin, The global close was only made a standard option on UK cars, outside of the uk you would have to get the dealer to turn it on, odd i know but apparently true.

Biffer, have you folded your wing mirrors yet? put the left/right switch into neutral and press down on the direction pad and tadaaaa! haha. Enjoy

  12. Hi chaps,

So i am looking to buy an e-type, something i can renovate, i am skilled in metal works and repair so coach building shouldn't be an issue, sadly my knowledge is lacking in welding so wouldn't want to do too much.

Does anyone have any advice they could spare with me, i see there are lots of LHD on the market, which doesn't bother be because i live between the UK and pain anyway.

What model would be best for me?

    what to look out for?

    buying tips?

I have seen a couple around for about 12k, is this about right?

any help would be much appreciated, and i would even be willing (depending on how helpful the advice is) to take a drive up to you when it is complete and let you behind the wheel :)

    Best regards

    Tim

  13. yeah i found my old ramps don't fit,

so instead i invested in a trolly jack and some axel stands ( hopefully they arrive tomorrow as when i had the breaks done i spotted some rust i need to take care of before it gets out of hand) anyway i think the 2 ton jack and 2 axel stands came to 30 something quid ( i bought a creeper too... as they say all the gear and no idea haha)
