  1. Have you bought the car ?

I think with a car that is getting on for 50 there will always be a few gaps in its history. If you haven’t I would get it inspected by someone who really knows what they are looking at because I am sure it is a major investment. And beware of rust and poor repairs to previous corrosion issues.

If you have bought it put up some pics

  2. On my 2007 XJ Sovereign I have an intermittent fault with the NS door mirror not always folding out upon starting. I sometimes have to use the override switch several times to make it fully open. Does anyone have an idea how easy this is to fix, does it need a new motor or can the gears this must run on be charged

  3. I agree with the other comments, it will cost you more to upgrade than buying one in a better spec. You will never be happy with it which would be a shame. There are loads of SE and Sovereigns for sale. I used to have a sport model with half leather sports seats which I found really uncomfortable and looked into changing the interior but it was just not worth it. We also used to have a SE which was fine.

  4. I have had my XJ serviced by WinSpeed motor sport 148 Broad Street, Wood Street Village, Guildford GU3 3BJ 01483 537706. They are classic and modern Jaguar engineers. Some really beautiful cars around the place XK 120 XK 140 and E types a plenty. Jay who looks after the modern cars is a really personable guy who exudes competence and knowledge. Real enthusiasts whom I would recommend.

  5. I have also had problems with my 2007 XJ EPB. Mine locked on after a series of cold nights and very short journeys so I put it down to a battery issue. I contacted the garage I bought the car from. I told them I had fully charged the battery. They told me to disconnect the battery for 15 minutes. This was done. Result parking brake working properly and best of all the radio settings etc. All saved.

  6. I wouldn't go for the sports seats. I never found the SE seats too bad but hated the sports seats on the 2.5 sport estate I used to own. I disliked them so much I nearly got rid of the car after a month. However for about £20 from Amazon I bought a leather covered seat cushion and that solved my problem which was they were so hard and gave no support to my upper leg. I used to feel I had walked the distance I was driving.

  7. I would like to fit some chrome tail pipe finishers to my 2007 xj6 but on making enquiries with my local Jaguar garage they tell me they are only available for the supercharged version. Does anyone know if the 4.2 supercharged model has a larger tail pipe. Also can anyone recommend a nice alternative.

  8.  I took my new proteus alloy wheels to the tyre shop where there were two new tyres waiting for me purchased online and a reduction of £20 a corner over the  turn up and pay price. ( 2 of the existing tyre are nearly new and were to be put on the new wheels.)  Rather annoyingly when another tyre shop had one of the wheels off to discover it was damaged giving me the excuse to upgrade they had over tightened the wheel nuts so much so one of them broke off today. No one can fix this until Monday so my new wheels still aren't on my car. Annoying or what.
