  1. Hi Paul, Very interesting and thanks for sharing, do you know if this is unique to the Stype or could this apply to other models ? I am always baffled by manufacturers to complicate electrical setups, or maybe there is an important reason for the dual switched polarity. Reminds me of my first car VW Beetle which had a 6v reversed polarity electrical system, as you can imagine it was hopeless and soon modded to a 12v system. Got me thinking how handy some type of electrical workshop would be just to give us an insight into our cars electrical systems. cheers Andy
  2. Ditto that, Ian, they did a Terraclean and reduced the emissions by some considerable amount. Paul, probably looking at a Google trawl to get the right supplier/install tbh.
  3. Hi John, not driven an Stype so can't compare, however, I've had a front drive Xtype sport and now got an 2.5v6 AWD, the one thing I can say is that the Sport did suffer from a bit of torque steer at times and was heavier than the 2.5 which feels very balanced and planted, it is a joy in the bends regards Andy
  4. Welcome, John, Good to have you onboard, would be good to hear when you get a Daimler, great guys on here with a wealth of knowledge to help out if you need it. I call my car Tigger, but the wife calls her Jaggy, lol, were animal lovers too and they have a first class life with us, Pic below of our pup Pip in the back of my first Jag. regards Andrew
  5. Hi Jamie, im in Welshpool, Welcome, Cymru am byth. Andrew

    XE Quality

Don't be put off the type and blame the manufacturer. Regect it with the dealer and get your money back. cant see how Jaguar would have allowed this car to leave production with such defects, it just doesn't ring true. my own thoughts are that, it was damaged in transit after it left Jaguar control or damaged post landing in Aus, either way they are trying to pass it on without loosing out. The service I've had from Jaguar dealerships in the UK has been faultless, however, from my experience BMW, Audi and Mercedes dealers leave a lot to be desired. Good luck and let us know how you get on Cheers Andrew
  7. No problem, David good to hear, Hopefully wont be too long before we get some decent weather. Cheers Andrew
  8. Hi Guy's, Just wondering if this is still 'live' , I'd be interested in a South West / Wales meet. Cheers Andrew
  9. Phil, Thanks for the info on the radio app, I've got a Pure DAB stand alone unit for the car, but this app will make it redundant which is another plus point as it free's up some space on the dash, the versatility of this widget just gets better. Cheers Andrew
  10. Walter, that's the best post I've seen this week ! Good to know if I get a squadron of those fast fliers. Cheers Andrew
  11. Hi Paul, The one thing I find odd about ignorant bad service and manors is that I was told a while back, that it takes more energy than being polite and helpful. Treat others as you would like to be treated and the world will be a much better place, plus, personally, If I get great service, I don't mind paying a bit more and will return . 😊👍 Cheers Andrew
  12. John, welcome, I might be looking in the wrong place, have you got a link to a Jaguar version as its not listed on the Grom Audio website, seems to list every make bar Jaguar which is a bit odd. If there isn't one, then I'm guessing it could be they don't have some form of type approval for Jaguar cars. Cheers Andrew
  13. Hi CBers, once the unit is tuned to your stereo (fm) and paired with your phone (Bluetooth) when you get in an out of the car, the unit automatically connects with your phone via the Bluetooth, I should have said "tuning with your Jag stereo" , apologies for the confusion. ;) Cheers Andrew
  14. Hi Rick and welcome, in terms of connecting your iPhone/iPod, you have a couple of options in my opinion, you could look at a fixed installation with a Jaguar audio connectivity kit which usually sits in the centre arm rest and is hot wired into the existing stereo. This would involve dismantling the centre consol and removing your stereo facia to connect, not impossible, but a bit of work and the unit would cost upwards of £150 plus fitting. option 2, a Bluetooth FM transmitter that plugs into your power outlet and provides a seamless connection to the stereo from your phone (I have one) they are very good, easy to install and provide CD quality, there are several types on the market and link below for the one I use at £19.00 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bluetooth-Transmitter-AngLink-Hands-Free-Microphone/dp/B016I53KRK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1457032953&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=bluetooth+fm+transmitter&psc=1 Give me a shout if you need to know more. good luck Andrew
  15. Hi Paul, All great advice from the guy's and you prob saved yourself a lot of heartache in the long run, patience is the key. It took me 3 months to find mine and she is a beauty, low miler, ex Jag employee car that wanted for nothing, glad I kept looking even though I was keen as mustard to get another one, nothing's guaranteed in this life but cutting the risk down is the way I like to go. Good luck Andrew
  16. Thanks Frank, really easy to do, here's a link to Amazon for the modules I bought, only used the one as they are very bright. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00RMWIRIQ?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00 I cut a small aperture in the boot lining and just clip them into it as per the stock light, took a feed from the existing light and included an inline fuse. Cheers Andrew
  17. No worries David, good luck Andrew
  18. Hi Steve, I have the electric folding mirrors, but I believe mirrors without the electrics will fold also. If you place one palm on the painted side of the mirror housing and the other on the mirror side then gently push allowing the mirror to rotate towards the window, you should feel resistance and then the mirror will move. I know the electric versions will do this without pushing the button as I bumped into the drivers side the other day and thought the worse but it was fine and pushed back into place without any harm done. The guys on here will let you know if it any different. Cheers And
  19. Ian, If it helps and just as an indicator of original mat durability, I have a set of black Xtype mats that came with my Sport estate back in 04 in the garage, they did 200k and suffered abuse from kids, dogs and the like, the only sign of wear is the spot where the heel of my shoe settled for the gas pedal, it's a small hole through the carpet to the under mat (but not right through) and is about the size of a 50p piece, otherwise all 4 are like new and clean up really well. My present car came with cheaper aftermarket mats and I knew I had to replace them with originals based on how good they were. good luck A
  20. Hi Dan, Welcome, I've had a 2.0d sport estate (from new) and now a 2.5 V6 SE auto, from my point of view they are great cars. I'm pretty fussy about maintenance and detailing and so far (touching wood) been super reliable, the sport had 200k on the clock when I sold her. They go through the typical bits and bobs through their life as you would expect with any car, I had many years of German company cars and have not found the X to be any less reliable, infact, the styling and comfort is far better in the Jag (my opinion) Look after them well and they should look after you. Happy motoring A
  21. Hi Andrew and welcome, Ive had a couple of X types plus German company cars, my present X is the 2.5 V6 AWD SE, in all honesty, the X type is probably the best car I've had, very reliable, comfortable and goes well when you give it a tickle, I felt at home the first time I got in one. as the guys have said, have a look at all types of Jag and see what fits you best. Cheers Andrew
  22. Hi Guys n Gals, Thought a few members might be interested in this, Always thought the stock boot light was a bit weak in pitch black conditions plus the more you load into the boot, tended to cause shadows. ive upgraded the existing module with a CanBus LED array fitting and installed an additional LED array module on the other side of the boot to give a better light spread. The result is very good and helps stop those annoying dark areas when your looking for something. Pics below
  23. Hi Ian, I've tried all sorts of (so called Jaguar over mats) and none of them come up to the mark, just spent £75 on a new set of original Jaguar mats for the X type auto and they fit exactly and are a deep lush pile, sadly, I think you will have to part with the hard earned to get what your looking for. Cheers A
  24. Hi David, what bikes have you got ? I used a Thule system on my Xtype estate, roof mounted and again with my present saloon, we have downhill mountain bikes which are pretty hefty machines (Iron horse world cups), we have an Italian 3 bike spare wheel mounted rack system on our 4x4. tbh from experience I would not go for a boot mounted bike rack (with straps) as they just weren't stable enough for the weight of our bikes and you tend to get a lot of sideways play/ wobble when moving along. Tow bar mounted systems can move around a bit too unless you spend decent money. For the cars, the roof mounted system has been the most secure and reliable. Cheers A
  25. Thanks for the heads on this, funnily enough I saw a link to Xtypeparts on google this morning and clicked only to find that google have suspended their account due to non payment.........pfffft, to be avoided.
