  1. Hi David. Welcome to the forum. The mascots or "leapers" as they are called, are very easy to fit, but you do need the courage to be able to drill the hole in the bonnet. You can buy them on e-bay or from Jaguar dealers, and you can even get gold plated ones. You must also make sure the one you intend to fit is of the spring loaded type to be legal. If you decide to fit it yourself there are various videos on u-tube showing exactly how its done. As for the sat nav, I believe it is possible to fit the later unit incorporating the sat nav, but this is not a DIY job in the least. Also, I believe you will not be able to update it from when the X Type was discontinued, so it will always be out of date. I do not have sat nav on my 2003 2.1, but I have fitted a standard Garmin on the consul, connected to an additional, hidden lighter socket connected to the ignition, so it switches on automatically when I switch on the ignition.
