What made you pick an F-type R? What else did you consider?
Hi Yoshuey I bought my F type last year after a lot of soul searching and consideration of alternatives like the small Mercedes coupes which don't have the same features or pedigree. For a 6ft plus guy like me, they are also even tighter in the cockpit with even less storage space. The F styling is also far more attractive than the Mercs & BMers and they appear to be in great demand. From my point of view the only disadvantage is that you need a 2nd car for all the routine journeys like shopping , train catching, golf & DIY carriage. Also your garage needs to be long & wide ! Magnificent to drive though, no wonder I use the name Frazzle .

Trailer wiring
Hi If you google it you need a special electronic control unit for adding trailer sockets on these as all the rear light outputs to the lights have a permanent positive feed to one side of the bulb and the rear body module switches the earth to bring the light on. your trailer will be completely opposite, hence the need for the module, also too much load on the body module outputs could pop the rear body module something like these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152266585006 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/280904208860 cheers Joe

Just bought my 2007 Jaguar drop head
Just purchased a 2007 Jaguar XK convertible with 69000 miles on her. Silver with a cream interior, almost perfect condition, always maintained and garaged. Only thing I don't like is has aftermarket chrome wheels which I would prefer stock wheels.

Hi All, New Member, Newbie Questions
Hi Jason, one of the companies I am aware of is Cartronics - see link below. I have not used them as they are a bit far from me - but I know others in the XKCC have got their Android Auto system installed to a late model XKR. https://www.cartronics.co.uk/ I think the installation cost is somewhere around £1,400, pricey but a long term modern solution. If I were closer to them I would certainly give it a go. There is also a version from Mr12Volt, but I only know of that being installed to a 2009 model - the 4.2 engined models have a slightly easier installation procedure without the fibre optic involvement. Good luck with your choices - might like to consider joining the XKCC, only £10 per year and a car club specifically for XK enthusiasts. They have an event being planned to attend a gathering at Oulton Park in Cheshire in August, celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the X-100 and 20th Anniversary of the X-150 models. Jointly organised by JDHT and MSV, they are looking to get up to 1,000 XK on the track for a parade. See the XKCC at this link below: XKCC | Modern XK Club N6 JMX

Leaky boot and busted chromatic mirror
Hi easier just to buy a used rear view mirror and just replace it door mirrors are the same boot leak is usually across the top of the rear lights, there a rubber trim thats pushes in that never seals, most people remove it clean it and refit them with some silicone sealant, which usually cures it cheers Joe

CDs stuck in boot changer
This is from an old post on Jag-lovers.com: I got the !Removed! thing out of the player leaving both the player, the CD’s and the cartridge intact and undamaged. I did a lot of reading in the archives and found a bunch of ‘‘methods’’ to extract a stuck cartridge. All were based on the fact that all the CD trays were retracted into the cartridge. Mine would not retract the last played CD/tray back into the cartridge so all of those methods failed. Here is what I came up with. On the bottom of the cartridge is a hooked slot. That slot matches up with a plastic hooked lever in the player. I inserted a thin mylar strip in between the cartridge and that hook so the cartridge was only now restrained by the tray that was extended out to the side. With the player plugged into the car so it was playing a disc (number 6) I changed it to playing another disc (number 1). The shuffle mechanism retracted the playing disc/tray and before it could push out the new disc/tray the cartridge ejected and my screen said ‘‘no magazine’’. Sure enough when I walked to the back there it was sticking out of the player. Still don’t know why it would not normally eject but at least I now know how to get the old one out. I suspect heat may have been a factor as it has been insufferably hot here for nearly three weeks now and they expect another 1-2 weeks more!!! Going to look it over and lube up some sliding moving parts and see what happens.– Good luck John

at getting an XK8/XK/XKR convertible.
It's fair to say that Jaguar Cars are not supporting the heritage cars any longer, but Jaguar Classic are picking up the slack, so we do anticipate an increased spares availability going forward. In addition, there are a significant number of good after market suppliers working on spares availability, including the likes of SNG Barrett, Swallows, DCR, etc. Plus there are specialist Breakers for Jaguar cars around too. Also bear in mind that not everything on the cars were manufactured by Jaguar, lots of little companies provided parts to be built into the vehicles. Module repairs are also becoming a thing, with several known repair factors around the country, mainly in the Midlands and south of the country. If you overthink the future viability of any classic car, you will not be buying anything. If you are concerned at all, then you may wish to rethink your classic car ambitions. N6 JMX
