Smart Key Batteries

Featured Replies

The batteries in my Smart Key last about 2 weeks at a time. Any solutions would be helpful as well as saving me a lot of money!!!

David,

Sounds like your key is knackered, don't you have a spare ?

ATB,

Trevor

david mines done the same for a while when i first got it. one would go i would put a new battery in but change fobs a while later the other would go asking me to insert smart key. so changed it and that was the 2 of them ping pong for a wile. the parking sensors were playing up at the same time. first one went back to dealers 2 weeks later 2nd went again back to dealers another 2weeks the 3rd goes by this time im fumming coz the car i had before the xk was a 2nd gen x5 and it was plagued with elec probs that how i got shot of it and bought the xk. any way the dealers said that they would check over all the wiring looms. and they did no more parking sensor & key fob issues and that was over a year ago. you can buy batteries from the supermarket £2quid a throw. but if it persists or you have any warrnty take it in to them get them to check it out. ps check out your car battery maybe its done or nedding charged up. hope this helps charlie

Both keys act the same. They are out of guarantee so it would appear that its going to be an expensive replacement job. Surely both keys shouldn't have the same fault? Maybe Jaguar will take pity on me!!! (Some hope)

david take the key fobs to dealers speak to the service people ask them about it. maybe just needing reprogramed ask the price basiclly se what they have to say mate. charlie
