hi guys, looking for some advice. I had to adjust the timing on my 3ltr s type before xmas..a long job but put it all back together and started first time!! it runs ok but not right, the side that the timing had gone, passenger side, is firing but not like the other bank.....looking at the exhaust, drivers side you can feel the exhaust coming out but passenger side its very weak. its a weird one....ive done about 600 motorway miles over the xmas hols doing 80 to 90 mph. it does struggle going over any inclines but if i floor the pedal, it drops a gear and runs ok, I know i havent explained this very well but has anyone expirienced anything simular

Hi John, and welcome to the Club.

Not firing correctly could be one of a few things.  I am not an expert but I had the same problem on my Rover sterling a few years ago with a power loss and it was the coil pack.  I got the new part from BreakerYard  and my mechanic fitted it.

My S type is a diesel and if not firing correctly I would also suspect injectors or glow plugs.

Members with the 3 litre engine could also advise.

Regards

Peter.

P.S.  There is a list of independent Jag specialists on the Jaguar Owner Lounge which could assist.
