Engine Fault light

Featured Replies

Engine Fault light showing on dashboard but car pulls as usual, once diagnostics has cleared it it will then reappear after car has run for second time.

Hi Keith, and welcome to the Club.

I am assuming that your S type is a 2.7 Diesel.  I am also assuming that the amber light comes on. Does your diagnostic check throw up a code, such as P0420?

If this is so, the most common issue is a sticky EGR valve.  This is something I have also had, and there are three cures.

1. Take off the valves, clean or replace.  Painstaking or expensive.

2. Use some Wynn's EGR cleaner which is stocked by Halfords. A bit less than £10.

3. Take the car out and give it a good blast with the "S" button on.  Very cheap and enjoyable!

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Peter.
