Hi all, just doing some work on my 2.5 V6 and come across this wire that's not connected. Any ideas what it is and where it should be please?

Haven't got an X-Type Chris to compare the plug with however, it looks like a sensor plug, is everything functioning correctly with the car?

Not really, it's seems like it's got a slight misfire. It doesn't seem long enough to reach any where other than the battery box!

Then I can only suggest its come adrift from the fuse/relay box adjacent

I'm led to believe this Cable was used when the car left the Factory when the car was New, to keep the Electronics from shutting down

completely during transportation from the Factory and is not needed now.

I can confirm that you are correct there Trooper. What it does provide is a useful switched live and permanent live for any future modifications under the bonnet. You would have to use a voltage tester to determine which wire is which, I used the switch live to install DRL's on my X.

It is a factory plug, However it is also a 12v supply, Useful for front end additions.
