How do I check the gearbox oil on my xj I'm guessing it's electronic the handbook isn't very clear regarding procedure

dave jaguar as well as the germans say the transmission oil is sealed for the life of the car, but a lot of members have had theirs serviced, at 60,000mls or so . getting the gearbox sump box ither replaced or cleaned and filter replaced, as far as I hear much smooooother normal costs about £300 mark
