Advice needed on purchasing an XKR regarding performance

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm new to the group and i'm planning on buying a 2000 model XKR

Took a look at the car but could only take it for a test drive in heavy traffic

I'm a bit unsure what the performance should be like and thought the car was a bit sluggish as I had to work the accelerator where on my current Jag XJ you just touch the pedal and you know its going to fly

So I was just wondering if there could be any issues with supercharger or engine and is there anything I should look out for

Welcome to the club, Adrian.

I think to test an XKR you need a bit of open road with hardly any traffic, as the 4 litre engine will practically take off with a good push on the accelerator

My humble s type diesel with the 2.7 V6 turbo with the S button goes like the Chariot of Jehu  ----  verily like the wind, so I think that you won't get the best feel of the car you are looking at until you drive it on the open road.

Regards,

Peter.

Hi Adrian and welcome to the JAGUAR OWNERS CLUB. I would have one question; was the sports mode button engaged? You would note an heavy gain in power should the latter be in force to that of standard power.
