X Type Parts

Featured Replies

Hi,

My name is Richard and I have recently purchased an X-Type 2.1V6 2004, started off great car looks first class and interior spot on..... however while undertaking an exhaust repair it became clear that corrosion was not my jags best friend, after much deliberation and sever anger to the last owners deceit I have since decided to restore the car but will require an abundance of parts, I had to cut both sills out and weld new but this is proceeding OK.

I would appreciate any advise as to the cheapest place to go for the following:

Lower control arms

Ball joints for above

Fuel filler pipe / breather

Rear window trim

Bumper trim

Wheel studs & nuts (Dont ask!!)

Also have an issue with her that the engine mgt light is on and she is running smooth but rich, I sustpect one or both oxygen sensors but would like to plug the car in first, does any one have any comments on using the DIY diagnostic scanners you can pick up??

Many thanks for all help.

HI Richard, and Welcome to the Club.

I would suggest trying the David Manners group, who do supply new parts and are Jaguar Specialists, as well as other classic British makes.

What you will find  on their site is a great parts catalogue , which will assist you by giving a guide to the price.  I picked up a part there in June, and took it to a member in Loughrea, Co.Galway which saved shipping costs!

I use an OBD2 scanner which cost me £20 which seems to work OK.  You can then look up what the code means.  The Computerised system with the Mongoose connection is highly thought up, and I would have bough one but for my laptop being a MacBook Pro for which you have to buy additional software.

Let us know how you get on.

Regards,

Peter.
