Having recently joined the online club I will be looking to purchase a newish Jaguar over the next month or so. I wondered if anybody has had any dealings with the above company, SOURCINGROUP.co.uk , where John Penn professes to specialise in Jaguars.

The reason I ask is on the Internet there is information about a Sir Jonathon Penn who ran a similar named company some years ago and was sent to prison for defrauding a number of people. It may just be a coincidence and that whilst names are similar one may be a rogue and the other a gentleman.

If you google Sir Jonathon Penn and John Penn you will see my problem.

So that is my concern but I'm sure there will be members here who can confirm that Johnny Penn at SOURCINGROUP.co.uk is an ok guy.

Hi Davina, and Welcome to the Club.

I have googled those names, and I do recall this case very well, as there was a similar on here a year or two before.

If you a can find a good Jaguar dealer close to where you live  --  it is always best to buy from someone close to where you live as it makes it easier to pester them if something goes wrong  ---  and tell them what you want, they will source one for you.

There are several big automotive groups who have quite a few dealerships. and several members who work for such dealers.

Personally, I think that these people who will tell you that they will source one for you, particularly if they want a deposit, are in the business for themselves rather than providing a service.

The Main dealers will have premises that can't be moved overnight, and though I would not have my car serviced by a main dealer -- as they charge too much --  I have always bought cars from a main dealer for that reason.

Let us know how you get on.

Peter.
