I have reported a clunking noise from underneath my 2012 XF. The dealer tells me that there is a notice about it, it is known as fuel slap where something in the tank slaps around when the tank is full.  They can remove the tank and correct it at cost.  I saw here that there was a recall so why should I need to pay?  Anyone else had a main dealer charge for this?

Welcome to the club, Phil.

I have heard of this and I am sure that there was a topic raised some years ago.

It could be worth checking if your car had a recall notice.

Regards,

Peter.

The bulletin notice was: JTB00263 And I don't think this was a recall? To get the problem fixed FOC you had to complain to you Jaguar dealer. Unless you bought the car from a Jaguar dealer within the last 2 years then any warrantee has timed out and lapsed for a 2012 model. You could try and see if as a gesture of goodwill? you can get the problem sorted by contacting CS at Jaguar HQ.

Thanks Old Growler. I bought it from Harwoods a Jaguar main dealer, in May last year.  It has a 5 year warranty apparently. It is my second XF.

Hi,

Just had my XF 2.2D with the same problem.  Under warranty thankfully but the main dealer has carried out some work that was introduced as a bulletin to rectify this 'fuel slap'.

Apparently it was only happening on diesels so the bulletin only affects the diesel motors.  If/when I eventually get my car back from the dealer, I'll let you know if its worked and what the details of the bulletin are.

Suffice to say that Jaguar recognise the issue even if they dont admit to it straight away!
