Resetting EML Engine Management Light

Featured Replies

Hi all

I have recently removed and cleaned my EGR and must say that the Car no longer smokes from the exhaust.

I then also installed a EGR Plate that I had bought off ebay.

The EML Engine Light has however come on and I now removed the plate but the Light is still on.

Is there any way in turning the EML off without going to a Garage or spending money on any software.

I do have a basic OBD2 Cable but don't want to invest in any software as I am planning to sell the Car now.

Thank you all for your help.

Hi

If you disconnected the EGR and then switched the ignition on, it will logged a engine fault

and will need a diagnostic tool plugged in to reset it

do you have the touch screen , you can bring up fault codes on that and reset them

cheers

does your car have the touch displays, some jaguars with the touch display, by pressing certain buttons you can access a diagnostics screen, where engine fault codes are displayed and can be reset

hi joe

haha...lol silly me :*)

my car doesnt have the touch screen unfortunately...i guess i will just have to pay the local garage man his treat then....thanks anyways for your kind help and support my friend :-).

Hi

Its a shame you dont know someone with one

most generic/unversal code readers will read engine codes

get a price first and you can get a universal code reader nowadays off ebay for less than £20, this might be your cheapest option and can be used again and again on any car

thanks

Joe
