Jaguar XF Drivers window

Featured Replies

Hi, apologies if this has already been posted and discussed, but I can't find info anywhere.

I have a 2010 Jaguar XF and the drivers window is doing it's own thing! If i try and "one touch" the window to close, it travels half way up then back to the bottom.

The only way i can get it to close is to "inch" it up slowly. Even doing it that way is hit and miss because if i go too far with the window, it hits the stop and then reopens fully.

When the window is closed and i want to open it, the damn thing judders down a third of the way before opening fully!

Does anyone know what the cause may be and probable cost for repair? Many thanks.

Hi David,

Have you checked your battery?

If it is fully charged I would be to first reset the windows and if that doesn't work, I would disconnect the battery for a few minutes and then do a full reset.

The alternative is to squirt a bit of WD40 or similar into the window as it is going down and see how it goes.

Others with more electrical nouse than myself will also assist.

Regards,

Peter.

Peter, thanks very much for that. I'll try both over the next few days and let you know the outcome. I have managed to find other threads on this subject now and it does appear to be a common fault.

The battery may be a contributory factor as during the winter months if i didn't start her for a couple of days i would get a low battery message on the warning screen
