Hi everyone i have a drip from somewhere under/in my engine its not from the cold air thing bit i've notice the bottle i put antifreeze in has gone down. Do you think it might just be a corroded pipe or a loose metal thing that goes round the pipe? It's going for its mot this week will it fail because of this drip?

Hi Deborah,

I don't think a drip will make it fail the MOT if it is hardly noticeable.

Sometimes you cannot notice a small drip at all because of the cover under the car engine and you won't be able to see where the drip is from.

My car went in for its MOT last week and passed with flying colours, although my mechanic found a water leak which was  from the water pump. Replaced!

My son has an X Type 2.0 D and the water pump is at the front of the engine, if you care to look when the engine is running.

Good luck with the MOT.

Regards,

Peter.

It failed the MOT as springs and ball joints were knackered but the dip was from the water pump x

Good luck with the next MOT, Deb.

Things come in threes - My son's water pump, your water pump, and my s type's water pump last week!
