Parking sensors retro-fit

Featured Replies

Advice & experience sought please. My 2013 XF Portfolio has only rear parking sensors and I wish to purchase front sensors. Several main dealers say they can't fit them though one will at £400+ and mobile fitters will do the job for around £200. I would like an LED/distance display mounted above the steering column below the speedo with an on-off switch. Has anyone experience of after market and/or mobile fitters. I am most worried that they would not fit wiring neatly enough etc.

I would be very grateful for any advice.

Regards

yes i fitted an after market front sensors on my x type, with a switch on/off  and they work fine, been on car for 3years now. so i hope that has given you a bit more to think about. im thinking of doing a refit with rear sensors off a x type and replacing the front with those !  but thats all later when i get chance to get to a scrap yard and look for a descent pair with sensor box, wiring loom, and sounder unit.

Thanks David. Although I may have considered fitting myself in my youth - not now! I have no idea how wiring would be routed from front to cabin without dismantling the whole car! :-(
