Keyfob controlled powerfolding mirrors

Featured Replies

Having just completed this modification on one of Denis's cars, I'm amazed at the theoretical simplicity of the mod compared to, say, the S-Type which is considerably more complex.

This is down to the fact that the X-Type double locking pulse from the General Electronics Module (GEM) is generated, not only when double locking is invoked, but also when the car is subsequently unlocked.

My question is this:- Why is the double locking pulse produced when unlocking? The answer is not immediately apparent to me having looked at the wiring diagrams and I'm invariably curious when I don't understand things.

Please can anybody assist?

Hi Paul

have come across this topic and would be interested to know how to do this modification or where I can get it done, I quite often drive away and forget to put the mirrors back out till I go to look in them so having them open automatically would be a great asset. my car is an X-Type 2.0 Diesel est  2009 SE.

Regards, Alan

No Paul it does not, thought that was only on the sovereign.

OK Alan

On re-checking the circuit diagrams, I don't believe memory seats matter.

Here is a LINK to the method that I used. Please can I recommend that you use automotive splices or soldered joints, rather than just twist and tape.

It is a very simple procedure involving only one standard type relay :)

Thanks, Paul will try it out.
