I have just bought a 2003 S-type. It is my first Jaguar aince 1968 when I ran a 3.8 s-type.

I am delighted with it so far. It has SatNav and an on-board Motorola telephone.

Is there anyway that I can unplug the phone and replace it with some sort of adapter which would enable my mobile to take its place ?

Why not just get an adapter and charge it from the cigar lighter?. Have just joined too and have 2 of those S Types a 3.0 v6 and a 4.0 v8. Plus 2 other older Jags.

Yuo can easily upgrade your car to Jaguar's Bluetooth system which will link with your phone and link it into the car's infotainment system. Do you have a touchscreen?

I have a touchsreen yes. What I want to happen is for my mobile to have the same facilities as the in-car motorola handset. EG, ring in the car through the speakers, display who is calling, switch off the music and be able to speak hands-free. Then when the caller hangs up for the screen to go back to Nav, Audio or climate and the music to continue where it was interrupted. In my Volvo, I had a Yatour system which plugged into the multichanger socket, but it had no touchscreen.

That's exactly what the OEM Jaguar Bluetooth system was designed for Andrew. It takes about 30 minutes to do.

Where are obtainable from ? Also on my old Volvo, the head unit was easy to remove. On the Jaguar the radio looks impossible to access.

But I would like to have bluetooth. I listen to talking books which are stored on my Android mobile.

Head unit (Touchscreen) is easy to remove Andrew. However, this retro-fit doesn't require your head unit to be removed.

Easiest way for you to do the upgrade is to buy one of the later combined phone / Bluetooth modules part number:- 7W93-10D893-AB.

Which are quite common on eBay.

You will not need anything else. The D2B fibre optic and wiring will already be in place.

If you decide to go ahead, I can talk you through the process if you want.

 

 

I am minded to keep the car phone. I think it is quite quaint. The problem is that the slider which holds the telephone SIM card is missing. Does anyone have one out there in the Jaguar world ?
