Hi everyone. Recent purchase of 1996 3.2 XJ6 with original Cassette deck radio. Dealer disconnected battery with well known resultant effect on radio _ WILL NOT SWITCH ON. No info on code and as the radio does not have a PTY button the procedure of entering code 3 times and pressing FF, A mem and PTY does not work. Anyone have an archaic set like mine? Any ideas, or am I destined for miles of deadly quiet in the future. I am 85 and physically disabled with hip problems so I cannot crouch under the dashboard to remove the radio.

The reset did not work on my 2007 S type either after a battery change, I phoned my local Jaguar dealer with the registration number expecting them to ask for the chasis number as well but they didn't ask for it, they phoned me back after 30 minutes with the correct code. It may be worth a try unless the dealer you used was a genuine Jaguar dealer.

Hi All, Contacted TWR garage (they provided the car originally and maintained it up to 150K miles.). They were very co-operative and phoned me within 5 minutes with a code. Regrettably the radio did not accept it; I assume that it was changed fairly recently. Local advice was that my only choice now is to remove the radio, observe the serial numbers and try a Jaguar agent again. Is this good advice and are there any other options? J

Hi

some stereo's if you get the code wrong 3 times will lock you out for 30 minutes

and every time you get it wrong after that it will double the wait time. 1hr, 2hr, 4hr

if you can get it out and power it up, it might ask for a code, after the time period

do you have a pic of the stereo or make and model

cheers

Joe
