HI,

Just joined the club today after picking up my 2011 (facelift) XF 3.0 S Portfolio last Friday. We had been researching and looking at XFs for nearly a year and decided to wait until 2017 to make our purchase. However my dear wife was looking at Autotrader last Saturday and spotted the vehicle which had just gone on sale at a local dealer, less than a mile from home, at what we thought was an excellent price. Visited the dealer the next day and traded in our SEAT Exeo for the Jaguar. The SEAT although a fantastic car was unfortunately too light to tow our caravan.  We have been reading the extensive XF manual since picking up the car and have beenon  local shopping trips in it but today we went to the coast for our first proper  drive out. What an excellent car!  The next step is to have the tow bar fitted to tow our caravan.

Welcome to the club, Alan.

As a former caravanner, the 3.0 litre XF will make a great tow car  -  you won't know you have a caravan on the back!

Just enjoy the car, and the club.

Regards

Peter.

Hi Alan/Peter,

Just joined today having recently purchased a 2006 XK rag top. I also have a 2004 Jaguar XJ Sport that has been in my possession for the last 11 years and hope to keep it for another 11!

Looking to the future I am going to need a lot of help and advice and am hoping this is something I will get from the club.

Happy motoring,

Keith.

Welcome to the Club, Keith.

The XK is an iconic car and in my opinion a future classic.

The club is a friendly and knowledgeable group of people, who will share their experiences and knowledge.

Regards,

Peter.

Thanks Peter. I'm pleased to report that we have had the tow bar fitted and are looking forward to going away in the caravan in a few weeks time.

One point though, I can't seem to find any concrete information about increasing the tyre pressures whilst towing, other than advice on a forum to increase them by 10%. I have them set at the recommended 34 psi at the moment for normal driving so would increasing them to 37 - 38 psi be sufficient?

Also do I have to reset the Tyre Pressure system after changing the tyre pressure and if so. how is that done?

Regards

Alan

Hi Alan,

Glad you have got your car ready for towing and hope that the weather in a few weeks is OK.

For my last ten years of caravanning I towed with a Rover Sterling 2.5 Auto and used to increase the tyre pressure by 10%.when towing. The Rover was a Front Wheel Drive, which is the difference and there was a bit in the owners manual giving me guidelines on towing.

When it comes to these electronic pressure systems I am quite neanderthal, so my answer is that i don't know.

Have a good time!

Regards

Peter.
