Hi just introducing myself and I've a few queries that hopefully you'll be able to help me with...

I've an XF Sportbrake '13 (2.2D Premium Luxury) in Dark Metallic Blue with Dove Leather interior. Previously owned an XF Prem Lux 2.7D saloon '08 in same colour with Barley interior.

Stratstone Jaguar in Derby, who have always done my servicing (under the 3+ scheme) and who I've always been quite happy with, have now been taken over by H A Fox and quite frankly I'm not very happy with their attitude! Small things so far but their customer interface is not a patch on Stratstones and it doesn't bode well for the future... Anyway this preamble is all about me wanting a reputable indie jag specialist who will service my car for me  and not charge the earth for the priv. Anybody can recommend?

Also I have recently purchased a dashcam and Halfords declined to fit it for me as they could not find a non-live connection and were apparently frightened of blowing up the electrics! I'd like it fitting permanently and tidily as the wire hanging down from the cam to the cigarette lighter socket in the centre console just looks untidy and amateurish. Has anybody fitted a dashcam and if so where is the best place to plug it in and what sort of kit do I need to accomplish it  plus how much will it cost to do i.e. do I really need an expert in Jag electronics to do it?

I throw myself at your mercy, all advice would be gratefully accepted.

Cheers,

Alex

Welcome to the club, Alex.

My S type is Indigo Blue with Dove leather, also.  Nice combination.

I have heard that there is a very good indie in Milton Keynes - several members have commented on how good they are.

I have a Nextbase dash cam that connects neatly with the power socket in the armrest cubby.  From the windscreen the long lead fits into the slight gad, runs down the "A" frame kept in place with a couple of small pieces of foam rubber, under the carpet and into the socket.  If you want it hard wired, there are quite a few auto electricians who advertise, and you can usually find a mobile service.

Let us know how you get on.

Regards,

Peter.

Thanks Peter. I'll search out an auto electrician to see what can be achieved. Mine's a Nextbase as well so I'll also explore your solution.

Milton Keynes is a little far for me. Does anyone know of a good indie near Ashby-de-la-Zouch?

Cheers,

Alex.

Hi Alex,

I forgot Leicestershire was a rather large county.

I have used a mobile mechanic since 2001 and he know everything about cars!  But he only operated around Birmingham, Lichfield and Sutton Coldfield.

There is a Topic on the Club Forums which lists members' recommendations.  I will keep am eye open and let you know.

Regards,

Peter.
