Hi All,

Well my 2007 S Type 2.7 td has only 52k miles on it but is 10 years old this month, so needs a new Cam belt, or so I thought? The first Indie I called said that a main dealer can do the job cheaper than them, (£480+vat) very honest I thought. Called the main dealer and I'm still waiting for a call back with a price! Waited all day. In the mean time I called another Indie, they said with such low mileage they recommended not changing the belt for at least another 2/3 years!!!!?? as they're made from "tank tracks" . Has anyone got any views on this? Their price was £580 +vat for belt and tensioners.

Cheers

Mark

Hi

According to Jaguar its a fixed price for cambelt for s-type diesel 2.7 of £375

have a look here http://www.jaguar.co.uk/owners/servicing-maintenance/fixed-price-servicing.html

personally I'd get it changed for peace of mind, if it fails, its very expensive, new engine

cheers

Hi Joe,

Yeah, that's what I expected the main dealer to say, £375. I even mentioned it to them, but I'm still waiting! Think at that price I'll get it done as you say could prevent a big bill.

Cheers

Main dealer got back to me and confirmed the £375, car is booked in for next week.

Had mine done by main dealer, very good service at a good price. Also it should be changed at 10 years according to jaguar
