Just got my first Jag!

Featured Replies

Hi Guys, just got my first Jag (3 weeks or so ago) at long last and am delighted with it.  It's a 2004 X-Type saloon, but without all the whistles and bells!  However, it still looks great and has had just one previous owner from new (who was fastidious about having it serviced every year on the same date!).

Only small problem I have noticed though is that the fabric covering on the windscreen pillar covers is coming unstuck, and I'd appreciate any advice as to how to remove the offending trims, restick the fabric and replace them..  (Please forgive me, I'm not very "techy").

Thanks for any help, reading through some of the posts this seems a great place to have found

Hi

If there's a Airbag there, then I would disconnect the battery first, make sure you have stereo code first

it should just be clipped in, start from the top and work your way down

looked on jaguar JTIS and thats not clear at all

cheers

Joe

Hi Joe, thanks for your reply.  Not sure whether there's an air bag there (perhaps the owners manual will tell me?).  I'm glad it seems fairly straightforward apart from that...but do you have any advice on what to use to re-stick the fabric?  Thanks again.  Graham

hi

if the a air bag there, it will say on it,

you want some contact adhesive or some spray adhesive

it depends what condition the material comes off in, if it leaves the backing behind, it might not look very good once restuck and you other option might to replaced it with a used or new part

there are sites that will sell you the material, if you google it

cheers

Joe

Thanks once again Joe.  Can't see any indication of an air bag behind the pillar, but will check further before I take it off.  i'm also assuming the cover just pulls away gently but without needing to insert anything to release the clips.  Will let you know how I get on...    Graham
