I have a problem with my remote locking none of the fobs worked so put new batteries in the and tried to program them no joy. I have bought a romote receiver but can't find where the old one is on my car. 2004 X-Type 2.0 estate, can anyone help please?

did the fobs work originally ?    and if they did the buttons would have a slight click when pressing them.. but if them buttons don't do this any more they may have worn out, and need replacing? these are known as small tactile buttons, in the picture two at top then two at bottom. (right hand side of this picture) two buttons on the left picture. two at the bottom removed to replace my worn out ones.WP_20160915_21_32_40_Pro.thumb.jpg.e7371792fd6c0ee9e4f7e9e917797e0c.jpg
