On my 2007 XJ Sovereign I have an intermittent fault with the NS door mirror not always folding out upon starting. I sometimes have to use the override switch several times to make it fully open. Does anyone have an idea how easy this is to fix, does it need a new motor or can the gears this must run on be charged 

My S-Type does the same during the hotter Summer days Stephen.

A swift spray of WD40 followed by light oil into the pivot section of the mirror along with a few operations tends to sort it out for the rest of the year at least.

The mirrors are notoriously difficult to dismantle so a more permanent solution would probably be replacement.
