my 2008 2.7 xf sounds a bit too noisy to me and also sounds like it's idling a bit fast no problems at all whilst on the move and no noise ideas or help please thanks 


Welcome to the Club, Clive.

Your XK has the same engine as my S Type, and so it should idle at 750 rpm. Is the foam under the engine cover in reasonable condition?

Sometimes diesel engines are a bit noisy when on tickover,  particularly when cold.

Some 20 years ago I had a Rover 418 with the Peugeot engine that sounded like a Massey Ferguson when cold, but once you were in third gear it was as quiet as a mouse.
