Hi guys, I'm looking at buying a 2006 xtype tomorrow. It's got 90k miles on it in Houston, Texas. I'd like to use it as an everyday driver to and frm wrk. I'm wondering about reliability, maintenance costs and when i do look at it tomorrow, what should I be on the lookout for? Rust, etc?? Any help I can get is most appreciated

Welcome to the Club, Dev.

What is the engine in your intended car?  I would guess that it is the 3.0 litre or 2.5 Litre All Wheel Drive Petrol model.

Both of those engines are well tried and very reliable.

I had the 2.5 AWD [2005] and it was a very nice car, both to drive and for comfort. The clement weather you have in your part of the world should mean that the car is not rusty,  but a quick look underneath the car, wheel arches and sills  etc should ease your mind.

Check if the car bodywork is nice and straight, and it is worth taking a small magnet in your pocked to check for any filler.

Other than that, just enjoy your car.

Regards,

Peter.
