Hi ther guys new to the group got the car passed down to me from a family member that has passed away and the car is very dear to me a lot of sentimental value, I was looking at the car today managed to get it started but cut out after a few seconds then couldn't get it started again I have my suspicions it is fuel related, if any of you have any ideas please let me know it's the 3.2 v8 xj 1998 thank you.

Hi Adam,  Has the car been not been used for a long time? if so could possibly be the fuel, which would need to drain the tank and put new fuel in.

But there could be other reasons, did the car sound strong when turning the key over, check the common reasons for not starting, or get a mobile mechanic just to check the car over.

Just to add if the car has not been used for a long time, could be an idea to change all the other fluids, Oil, brake etc, good luck.

Hi Adam,

I think Alan has pointed you in the right direction.   Possibly an injector cleaning additive might assist.

Let us know how you get on.
