The 2004 X-Type 2.0D that I have owned for 10 years is running cool and I have been led to understand it is probably the Oil Cooler Thermostat that needs changing. On a long run, the engine thermostat seems to be opening and closing correctly - it is just that the engine is taking much longer to warm up and the temperature gauge is definitely not coming up to it's normal reading - about 1/4 instead of just under halfway.

The problem is, I cannot seem to find the correct part number.  Having trawled the net, it appears that Jaguar introduced a modified unit to heat up the engine quicker and that it may be a different one to that used on the similar 2.0D Mondeo.  Does anyone have any definitive information on the part number(s) I should look for please?

Joe,

I assume it is.  My understanding is that the Oil cooler thermostat is bolted to the water pump and that is the one I need to change.  Do you know if the Jaguar part number quoted as JD61162  is for the updated assembly?

Regards

Richard
