in freezing temperatures drivers door will shut but not latch/lock,any ideas anyone?

  • 2 weeks later...

It's a common fault with the XK I'm afraid.

I'm on my third and they have all been the same.

It's either because the window can't move, or one of the microswitches in the locking mechanism gets frozen.

If you start the car and put the heating on full, by the time the ice has cleared off the side windows the door will latch.

Hope this helps.

hi

its usually the lube in the lock goes hard and stop the mech from working correct

ive had it before, I just removed the door panel, and sprayed lots of wd40 in the door lock unit, which seem to flush the dried lube out and cured it

cheers

Joe
