dreaded restricted performance issue

Featured Replies

Hi guys I have  a 2007 s-type 2.7TD I am chasing a fault with the car I have no codes stored in the memory but for the last week It refuses to come out of restricted performance mode. I have a obd scanner and it dosent seam to find any fault codes, I have cheacked it on other vehicles and it reads them ok, it reads all the info like vin number etc but shows not fault codes.

the only issue I have with the car is the drivers rear light cluster brake light is constantly on on the dash and I know the light cluster board has a fault but surely that wouldn't cause permanently on??

hi

you need to get it plugged into Jaguar IDS/SDD,

generic code readers only read engine fault codes, wont read abs, gearbox or many of the other modules

could be something as simple as a abs sensor, but its guess work with out plugging in

cheers

Joe

I had the same restricted performance problem with my 2003 S-Type.  Took to dealer and twice I paid for cleaning injectors and other service.  Did not help at all.  Finally, my battery went completely dead and replaced it.  Found out through some other mechanics that this is a fairly common issue when your battery is getting weak.  Battery was replaced a year ago and have had no issues with restricted performance fault warning.  Hope this may help.
