Hi all, I've recently got a XE 2Ld R-sport and love it. But because of my work I want to fit a seat cover (which I've brought). However it requires me to remove the headrest and fit it over the seat, it has the two holes for the head reat pins.

The trouble is, I can't figure out how to remove it.

Can you help?

hi

not sure on the xe, but most have buttons at the bottom of the stems you need to press in to release them

unless there electric adjustment like mine, in which case are clipped in and require the seat back to be removed to unclip them without damaging them

post some pics of your headrests up will give us a better idea

cheers

Joe

I'll get some pics when I can.

The XE headrest only has one button that is in the side of the headrest but that only allows me to adjust up and down. It hits a dead stop at the top, and pressing the button won't get it past.  I've tried doing it swiftly and I've searched for other buttons or catches.

The two pillars seem fixed in the seat rather than the headrest like other cars. This arrangement is different to anything I've had before, and doesn't match any videos I can find on line.

Ollytron,

Sorry for the delay replying. The restraints can only be released from the seat by removing the slide fitting they are in, from the seat. You will have to press don the seat covering next to the seat fitting and depress the small flat bit to release it. From what I read in the manual no special tools are required.

Looking more at the image ( the manual is lax on this particular subject) It may be beyond a simple pressing down of the fitting and may need the whole cover removing which is loaded with airbag explosive. Maybe a different cover would be a better bet. Sorry if I am wrong but it is not something I would attempt with the airbag in the seat. One short and it could go off. It's up to you.

I found that "possibly" removing the seat back may give better access.

Wow thank you for all the info.

The online hand book says they aren't designed to be removed. Which we can see from your pics above. As you said, I think I'm better off trying a different style one that is easy to fit and remove

Regarding the head restraint I have tried to adjust the fore and aft position of my head restraints on my Jaguar XE 2017 model. I have failed miserably, Is it a coincidence that they both fail to adjust. The manual just says press the button on the side of the head restraint.

The front head restraints have been designed NOT to be removed and are only adjustable up and down using the button on the side. The head should be in the middle of the restraint and not the neck.
