Every time I put diesel in my car the pump keeps cutting off as if the tank is full any one no what it could be

It could well be your putting diesel in a petrol engine car ?????  Thought I would say before anyone else did ???

I had this with another car not my x type.

Was told it was fuel swirling about and causing a a blockage - not going In quick enough so fuel pump thinks tank is full.

Some one else said it was vapour doing the same thing.

I was told to try holding the nozzle at different angles - when I got it right it seemed to be ok.

Was really annoying.
