6 Disc CD swop

Featured Replies

Hello,

New to the site.

I recently had a disaster with my X250  2.7 xf,  Long story, short. A tent pole fell onto the battery and shorted. Left with, no infotainment,  wipers , and several other parts of the car went down.

At a cost of thousands , had all but 1 issue repaired by a local Jaguar specialist.

The 1 outstanding issue, once cycled, is the 6 disc CD player with error message when you enter the car. The Jaguar specialist, advised the replacement at around £1,500. I don't use the CD regularly,  but if fitted would prefer it working again. But, can not justify the £1,500 fix cost.

I have seen several used, guaranteed working replacements for sale for around £50.00. But, would appreciate some advise on. possible issues.

I am aware that the player is part of the cars network and requires connection for all other linked items to work. But, would a used player be a case of plug and play, or would it need to be programmed to my vehicle before it would work.

My main concern, would it affect the new modules that have were recently fitted.  Also, if it needed programming, would it down all the network connected item, until re- programming was completed.

Really sorry to ask so many questions, hope someone at the club has the skill set, knowledge to assist.

Any information, would be gratefully appreciated.

Thank you!
