Incorrect diesel exhaust fluid quality detected no engine restarts in xx miles

Hi I have had the following message appear on the dashboard of my Jaguar XF 2.0D, 66 reg. "Incorrect diesel exhaust fluid quality detected no engine restarts in xx miles" (counting down). I took it to my local independentgarage and they investigated and tried resetting it but to no avail. Their diagnostics said all sensors are working OK and that they called Jaguar and were told that if it was topped up with adblue and run then the fault could clear itself. A few questions based on this: 1. Can this fault clear itself? A bit of a Google hasn't given the indication that this is the case. 2. Is there some kind of software issue that needs updating, I have seen this as a solution in some forums. 3. If it doesn't reset itself, is it worth getting the adblue tank drained and refilled, could this resolve the issue? 4. Or should I bite the bullet and take it to Jaguar...who always squeeze every last bit of money out in my experience.

Is that the ad blue message? If so, just keep topping it up, it does go away, apparently some ad blue qualities are different and Jags dont like some varieties.

Sorry, was being flippant, I had so many problems with my Jaguar XF V6 2.7 diesel, I gave up and bought something else. Maybe best idea to take it to a Jaguar dealer to let them diagnose it with their specialist software. Costly, but they have the special computer software which should enable them to give you proper advice. These cars are not designed for DIY workers. I tried to fix things myself, but there is some software that only dealers can access.  I think you should at least try the topping up with adblue first. I joined the RAC after a while and they were very helpful, but they also told me they had not got access to the specialist Jaguar diagnostic stuff. Frustrating. I hope you manage to sort it out.

Thanks, I will keep going until nearly at the limit then think again. Hopefully it clears, its had plenty of fresh ad blue so fingers crossed

Update

After another 80 miles or so of driving, following topping up with fresh ad blue, the error changed for about 20 miles to read "diesel exhaust fluid dosing malfunction". Then cleared itself, hopefully never to be seen again!
