Hi  We have owned several jags over the years at the moment we own a XJ6 V6 Se auto 2003 I want to get my husband a solar trickle charger but the cigar lighter needs to be working even if the ignition is turned off. Can anyone let me know if it still works when the engine is off. Many thanks

I believe it should work as I have used memory saver tools in cigar lighter sockets and this back-feeds the onboard electronics to keep the memory (such as clocks. radio, etc)

The cigarette lighter socket certainly is not live in my S Type when the ignition is turned off. Suggest a very simple/cheap way, if no electrician available to test the circuit, is plug in a cheap USB/cigarette lighter connection.  and see if that is live with the ignition turned off. Even simpler would be to try the Cigarette lighter with the ignition turned off.

Good luck and Best wishes, John.
