hi

the 2012 XKR I have bought has what I assume are black sooty/carbon deposits on the inside of the quad exhaust tail pipes

pretty solid and tried wheel cleaner which doesn’t do much

wondered if any members had more success removing these black deposits

thanks

David

What you need is one of those rotary brass wire brushes that fit into an electric drill. You then need a small rotary polishing mop with metal polish and away you go.

That’s a good idea as have a set of these wire brushes that go on the drill

thanks

neighbour suggested oven cleaner and a Brillo pad if anyone has experience of using this?

If it’s as baked on as you say then even oven cleaner won’t shift it. 10 minutes with the drill, job done.

Thanks

will try the drill method first once we get a warmer day!

  • 1 year later...

Done mine as Jim suggests and then used UHT spray paint to re furbish, (stove paint will do the job too), looks as good as new

  • 3 weeks later...

Cleaning the outside - of course - but I can't say it's ever occurred to me to clean the INSIDE of my exhaust tailpipes!
