I think I have a problem with the rear electronics module on my 2006 2.7d S Type. the right hand brake light is always on. had to replace bulb and two fuses after a warning message. I have seen the module on ebay quite cheap. I've been told its on the right side of the boot behind the parking brake module. Can any one confirm this please? Also any tips on changing it.

hi

are you sure the bulbs are correct type and iinstalled correct

they have odd bulbs on the s-type and will go in both ways, but only one way is correct

the lights have 2 permanents feed to each light, so if you touch the body it will pop fuses

might sound silly but check the bulbs first, seen it so many times

cheers

Thanks Joe. I had already replaced the fuses and bulb but as you say it is so easy to overlook the obvious. Fitted the module this morning and problem solved. :)

For anyone who has this problem in future the module is on the right hand side of the boot. The parking brake unit is on a black plate held in by four 10mm bolts. Take the plate off ( leave the brake module alone) and the electronics module is held on to the reverse by four 10mm nuts. It is connected by five plugs.

The unit is programmable but if you get one from a similar car ( mine is 56 2-7D Sport and the replacement came off a 57 2-7D Sport) it is just " plug and play".

Also if anyone needs these offset 21/4 watt bulbs Amazon do 10 for £6.49. Nearly the same as Halfords charge for 2.

Back to happy motoring, I do love this car !!!

PS. When you first fit it, ALL the rear lights come on. Just fire up the car and turn off and then it is back to normal.

scalded cat

i have a problem with rear module jag x350 xj 2005, the keys have lost coding to the chip (not the lock unlock) so unable

to start car, starts but fails immediately, as most cars do when code lost

this must be the same module 2W9F-AH also code U1262 scp (j1850) coms bus fault

PLEASE REPLY GUYS AS CANT MOVE CAR

HI

rear module has nothing to do with the imobiliser chips in the keys

lock unlock is done by door module in the drivers door

and imobiliser is done by engine ecu and dash, they are both part of the pats security system

imobiliser coding is very rarely lost, unless you have had Jaguar ids/sdd plugged in and pressed the wrong buttons

swapping the dash, engine ecu or gearbox tcm could also cause this

you need to get it plugged in with Jaguar ids/sdd to see what the fault is and only this software can fix it if it has somehow lost the transponder imobiliser codes

cheers

Joe
