Hi folks - the central locking on my 2014 XF malfunctioned yesterday. key fob locks all doors, only opens the boot but doesn’t open the driver and passenger doors. I’ve tried my spare and it’s the same. Any solutions here or is it a garage job? Ta

New battery added so now all doors except the drivers door now unlock! Why doesn’t the drivers door not unlock?

From your description it might suggest that the drivers door lock is faulty in some manner. Does the drivers door function properly if you use the key? If so then that would suggest the lock itself is functional and that there may be a wiring problem or a problem within the key fob.

Best Wishes and Regards, John

Unfortunately, XF’s are prone to lock malfunctions. The most likely problem is micro switches in the lock mechanism itself at fault.

Before you go paying for unnecessary parts, having the codes read would be a good idea.

When the lock motors fail will the door neither lock or unlock or does it just affect one of the operations?

Presumably the alarm still activates.

I’ll be getting an XF soon and I’m a little concerned that I could end up with one or more doors not locking properly and, due to the scrotes that are known to try car doors on the off-chance they’ve not been locked properly, I could end up having my car opened and rummage through. Am I best just to check every door every time I lock it?
