Hi, my name is Tom and at long last I bought my very own Jag. I bought it at the end of April this year - 2022.

BUT it was fine except for the stop/start which stopped working after a while. I booked it into my local Jag main dealer and they had it for 2 days testing the battery etc and finally I was told the battery was faulty so a new one was needed @£450 😢 which is not covered by the Approved warranty. This includes reprogramming everything. They also carry out a "health check" on the car which showed up some corrosion - "amber advisories" and one tyre that was 64% worn while all the others were at 23% worn. This tyre was a Dunlop unlike the rest of them.

2 days later as I started the car lots of amber warning lights and messages came up, this and that not available plus ABS fault. After trying to get through to the service dept. and a promise to call me back later they eventually did the next day. I told them all this, in more detail, and I was booked in the following week. When I arrived I went through all this again and they told me it would cost £125 to find out plus any repairs etc. I told them I would not be paying anything as everything was ok before they got their hands on it plus it is still in this rubbish warranty of theirs "just like a new car".

I was told if it turns out it was their fault and if it is included in the warranty then there would be no fee. I told them I would take my car elsewhere to be looked at. I'm going to an independent specialist Jag garage in Norwich and they will check everything for me plus carry out an oil and filter change as I have no confidence in official Jaguar dealers now, well 2 of them.

Has anyone else had problems with Approved Jaguars?

An update - I filled the car with diesal and all the warning lights and messages disappeared.

Nothing sounds particularly new in your submission. There are many references to similar stories on this Forum. Sounds a more frequent complaint about Jaguar Dealers.

Good Luck with your independent specialist. Certainly a route that is often a better bet.Best Wishes and Regards, John
