Smart key invertedly inserted wrong way into Starter Control Unit and does not release after pressing down. How can key be removed without damage to unit or key?

Hi Arnold......Don't worry about it, I did the same recently & just got good purchase on it & yanked it out, no damage to the fob at all, & I'm not sure that there's anything in that slot that CAN be damaged 馃檪

First try worked (with difficulty)

Next day battery was dead and I couldn鈥檛 remove key fob.

I鈥檒l recharge battery and try again.

I remain puzzled as to why you're putting the fob in that slot anyway? The only time I did was when I got "SmartKey" error displayed.

I found this today though:

"RICHARD JAG XK 2006KEY FOB STUCK INSTARTERCONTROL UNIT (iT LOOKS LIKE i PUT IT IN WRONG WAY

Hello and welcome to justanswer.com
Try disconnecting the negative battery terminal cable for about 30 minutes. The battery is located in the trunk towards the front of the vehicle behind the cover and luggage separator if this is a convertible. When you reconnect the battery have an assistant in the vehicle so they can push down on the key so it ejects as soon as you reconnect the negative battery terminal."
