Have a 2008  2ltr diesel X type and the glo plug light has started to come on if I accelerate hard.If I stop the engine and restart light goes out and stays out for normal driving.i had planned to take it to the garage for diagnosis but can't get the light to come on again when accelerating hard which obviously needs to happen for resolving.

Am waiting for problem to reoccure, car drives very well when no light showing.

Has anyone experienced this problem and found a remedy.am hoping it is just a sensor malfunction.

Hi Frank

The diagnostic codes should still be stored in the memory. You can get a cheap code reader off amazon or eBay if you don't want to take it to the garage.

I had the same thing on my XType  and it turned out to be the EGR valve. It's so long ago that I can't remember the details but I think I took it off  and gave it a good clean. Definitely get the codes read as it might be something completely different.

Good luck

I have exactly the same issue: 2004 2L diesel. Problem is not constant but when it happens it 's like it goes into limp mode. As Frank stated, turning ignition on and off clears the problem.
