Hi And welcome to the Jaguar Owners Club

Which Lights do you have come on?

Thanks for the welcome and replying.

I loose the speedo, temp gauge and rev counter. the battery light, handbrake, anti skid, temp warning, ABS, engine management and I think thats all are the ones that come on. Normally if you stop and turn off the ignition and then restart then every thing goes back to normal sometimes re-appearing and sometimes staying off. This morning I carryed on and after about 7 miles the engine cut out but after coasting to a stop switching off and restarting it was fine and this evening it never occured on the journey home. Its obviously an intermitant fault and its driving me daft as I'm not sure where to start looking.

Thanks again

Thanks for the welcome Big Al

If you cannot find the answer on here, could be an idea to get an auto electrician to check it out

could be a damaged wire that you cannot see or maybe a bad earth, hope you get it resolved.

Found problem, a wiring loom was chaffing against the fuel filter bracket and had worn through the sped sensor wire shorting it to earth. Taping it up and repositioning the loom seems to have cured it. Looks like the filter bracket has been broken in the past and secured with a couple of cable ties so will have to see about fixing that properly in the near future.

Glad you resolved the problem, you can now enjoy your cat. biggrin.gif
